On July 6, 1971, Sampson and co-inventor George Miley received a patent on a "gamma electric cell" that converted a gamma ray input into an electrical output (Among the first to do that was Bernhard Gross, US patent #3122640, 1964). What, you ask, does gamma radiation have to do with cellular communications technology? The answer: nothing. Some multiculturalist pseudo-historian must have seen the words "electric" and "cell" and thought "cell phone."

The father of the cell phone is Martin Cooper who first demonstrated the technology in 1973

I am keeping it posted because it is a free country. Now, instead of being a faceless coward, why don't put a picture up, get a real name, stop hiding and post what you feel like. If you know this information is incorrect, why do you keep it posted?  As if his true accomplishments aren't impressive enough!  He doesn't NEED to be credited for something he didn't do.  Why not learn what a Gamma Electric Cell does and not dumb it down to being a mere cell phone, a technology you are somewhat familiar with?  I'm just saying!

Don't argue with me king. Argue with the originators of this article. Thanks for your reply same way. I am just delivering the message. The main point here is that this great scientist has never gotten credit for his works. May I suggest you go and tear down all the Europeans who have claimed to be the "first" this and that as well. Rule for one........rule for all!!

I really hate to do this but  Dr. Sampson is brilliant nuclear scientist and has patents in relation to rocket engines....but the "gamma cell", and the cellular phone are unrelated technologies. A gentle man call Martin Cooper invented the first cell phone there are so many great black scientist let giving credit where it is due be enough.  These types of unfounded rumours only damage the reputation of Black scientists and inventors lets, it we don't check and stick to the facts then we undermine ourselves.
