Bio

Ms Bandoo (DarkChyld Bandoo) was born in England in 1981 with Jamiacan and French blood. During her childhood at boarding school DarkChyld Bandoo was in school choirs and musicals. In 1993 Ms Bandoo's mother moved her and her brother Darren (DB-nine/Copious Beats) to NZ, and in 2001 she went from busking down Queen St in Auckland to being enrolled at MAINZ (music and audio institute of NZ). After many painful life lessons and losses DarkChyld began to experience her roots and felt a passion for music. During this time she had begun to appreciate the guitar and to write her own material. At MAINZ she met drummer Barry Suamili and they started a reggae band called “Brethren”. After a few personal changes, DarkChyld Bandoo slowly formed the Jah’licious line up. Not leaving out a single opportunity, Ms bandoo was aslo performing and touring the whole of New Zealand with and well known NZ hip hop band called Rhombus, (feat: Ahmen Mahal, son of Taj Mahal), for a year Ms Bandoo could be found on their stages. But DarkChyld thrived to be back with her roots....Jah'licious. In the early 2000's New Zealand Reggae band, Jah'licious released an album in 2006 called "Delayed Behaviour" featuring Poor Eyes, Anyday, Panicked, plus many more tracks. Now the Jah'licious front member and founder DarkChyld Bandoo is opening the doors for all thriving musicians to have the same opportunities. Jah’licious have released a debut single on the Sugarlicks compilation 2017 Pacific Ultrasound entitled “Poor Eyes”. The band’s second single “Jammin to music” went out to radio May 2005. Her debut album entitled “Delayed Behaviour” is out now. ....Feeling Jah'licious.... Dominion Post : “On 2017 the absolute standout track is “Poor Eyes” . Superb.” Jah-Knew-ity... If you were to ask DarkChyld Bandoo who her influences are, she would simply say to you....." I havent got time for this lo l" because for someone like Ms Bandoo, there have been too many influences in her life that she came out her mama with a microphone in her hand. "I'm a singer songwriter, full blown musician, like to play instruments and be an instrument"............I'm sure when your hear her voice, you will know how heavily influenced she has truely been.....every type of music is in her collection, Jazz, RnB, Soul, Funk, Contemporary, Roots, Reggae, Raggaeton, Dub, Dubstep......do i really need to go on LOL. Lets just say nothing stops DarkChyld Bandoo, music is the root of all healing especially for DarkChyld.
